Moretto: Fulham without obligation for Chukwueze – how the next 12 months could go

It seemed that Samuel Chukwueze had left AC Milan permanently. However, it seems this may not be the case.

Most of the deals done from Milan at the end of the window involved performance-based obligation clauses, look at Alex Jimenez, for example. So, it was largely assumed that Chukwueze’s deal was the same.

However, this is not the case. Instead, the Rossoneri will be hoping the Nigerian impresses in England, either for Fulham’s sake or someone else.

Chukwueze could return?

According to Matteo Moretto, the deal is in fact structured as a standard loan with an option to buy, instead of it being an obligation, as he stated on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, via MilanNews.

“The Chukwueze-Fulham deal ended with a loan with an option to buy. There’s no obligation. The total figure is around €30 million, but in reality, it’s closer to €28 million than €30 million. In a year, Fulham will decide whether to buy Chukwueze or not.”

Of course, the deal could always be reworked next summer, if Fulham don’t see value in the €28m agreed upon, as has happened with Tommaso Pobega and Bologna this summer. Otherwise, he can return to Milano or leave for another destination.
