Moretto: Gatti available in the summer – Allegri’s position after January persistence

With AC Milan interested in signing a senior defender in January, Massimiliano Allegri repeatedly asked for Federico Gatti. However, it was not possible, at least then.

Throughout last month, Gatti’s name was heavily repeated, and it makes sense why. The Italian worked heavily with Allegri, and he would fit the bill for what Milan wanted. A physical defender with experience in Serie A.

Sometimes, football is that simple. Though bringing him to Milanello proved to be anything but, with Juventus pushing back against the Rossoneri when they made their attempts to sign him.

Gatti on the market

Things have now changed, it seems. After coming back from injury, Gatti had hoped to fight for a place in Luciano Spalletti’s team. So far, he has not managed to gain a spot, and Matteo Moretto reports that he could be sold in the next few months, via Calciomercato.com.

The Turin outfit are asking for almost €25 million for his departure, and there is plenty of interest from Italy and abroad. It is no surprise, then, that the Diavolo are in the picture, given their extensive pursuit of him in January.

Allegri actually called the Italian last month, seeking clarification on his situation, but there were no advancements due to the Bianconeri’s reluctance to sell. In a few months, there may be a relaunch.
