Moretto: Maignan could even leave Milan in January – the ‘most likely’ destination

Matteo Moretto has shed some more light on the rumours that Mike Maignan could become a transfer target for Juventus.

The situation that surrounds Maignan is now well-known: he was close to leaving in the summer window when Chelsea came in, and his current contract expires at the end of the season with nothing suggesting a renewal is close.

Some alarming rumours have surfaced this week though regarding him potentially going to a rival. More specifically, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Juventus want to sign him on a free transfer as they see Maignan as the ideal man to help fill a deficiency in leadership and experience.

“That’s the situation we have today. What I can tell you is that to date, Maignan’s name hasn’t been discussed internally at Juventus. It’s true, however, that if the conditions were right, especially financially, Juventus might consider Maignan, as other Italian clubs might.

“However, to date, this situation hasn’t been discussed internally. If Maignan were to become an opportunity in terms of the overall transaction price, then Juventus might even consider him. He’s certainly an important name for the transfer market. Currently, the most likely league is the Premier League. We’ll see…”
