AC Milan are constantly scanning the mercato for opportunities, and with a striker needed, this position is being focused on more.
In the past few years, Milan have spent big and their returns have been dismal. Since Olivier Giroud left, no one has been able to replace him, despite €100 million being spent to find an heir for his goals.
It is an unfortunate position to be in. However, it can be argued that the Rossoneri are their own worst enemy in a way, given they have not taken opportunities available to them – look at Dusan Vlahovic this summer.
Midtjylland opportunity
As the January mercato approaches, it seems more and more likely that they will dip into the striker market, and several names have been linked. However, a new possibility has ben discussed by Matteo Moretto this morning.

On his YouTube channel, he discussed a ‘sensation’ who is averaging a goal a game this season, as MilanNews relays.
“In Italy, several clubs are looking to strengthen their attacking roster for January. Roma are looking for a striker: we’ve talked about Arevalo, Zirkzee, and a player from Cologne. Let’s revisit a name we mentioned in the summer: Franculino, a Guinea-Bissau and Midtjylland striker.
“He’s 21 years old and has had a sensational season: 14 games, 14 goals in the league, and four games and three goals in the Europa League. Everton, Leipzig, Roma, and Bayern Munich were interested in him this summer.
“Keep an eye on him because he could be a target for Italian clubs in January. He’s a name that’s still on Roma’s shortlist, but AC Milan are also keen on him.
“Keep an eye on the Premier League; Franculino, given his numbers, has a fairly high price tag, and keep an eye on Bayern Munich. He’s a player to keep an eye on.”
