Moretto: Milan aware Embolo is available for €15m but he is ‘not a priority’

AC Milan have been offered the chance to sign Breel Embolo from Monaco, and the asking price is well within budget too.

On Monday night, Sky reported that the Milan management have held contacts over Embolo to explore the possibility. There had been further talks after an initial enquiry, with ‘concrete interest’, and he could be acquired on ‘favourable terms’.

It is believed that the Swiss forward is open to the move and that certainly helps things too. However, his scoring record of 22 goals and 13 assists in 89 games with the Ligue 1 club means he is not really the prolific centre-forward that the directors apparently want.

‘Not a priority’

Matteo Moretto gave an update on a few of Milan’s targets during a video on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, and he spoke about the situation related to Embolo.

“At the beginning of June, he was proposed to Milan by some intermediaries. It’s an option that Milan is keeping there, but it’s neither the first nor the second option,” he began (via MilanNews).

“It would be an ‘easier’ solution because Embolo’s cost is lower than that of other targets, just as he has a more accessible salary than, for example, Vlahovic. Monaco is asking for €15m in fixed terms. There were negotiations with Besiktas, but the discussions then didn’t continue.

“Embolo was proposed to Milan, who are keeping him there, but he’s not a priority. He’s a name that Milan will eventually evaluate later if other options don’t materialise. And Dusan Vlahovic is always among the options.”
