Massimo Calvelli was recently added to AC Milan’s Board of Directors, as a representative of RedBird, but his presence poses no threat to CEO Giorgio Furlani.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed by the Rossoneri and also the president Paolo Scaroni that Calvelli had been added to the Board of Directors, taking Mark Dowley’s place. Being Italian, and coming from the sports sector, Scaroni described the addition as ‘highly positive’.
In his latest YouTube video, Matteo Moretto spoke about the matter, seeing as he was one of the first journalists to report on Calvelli’s arrival. Above all, he focused on the relationship between the now former ATP executive and Milan CEO Furlani.
“There have been lots of questions about Furlani. In reality, the relationship between Calvelli and Furlani is very, very good. Furlani will stay where he is. At the moment, he’s not a director with an expiring contract, so there are guarantees on his role and also the great relationship with Calvelli,” Moretto stated.
It’s not exactly a surprising report as the two will have very different roles, not to mention that Calvelli doesn’t have an operational role within the Milan organisation. Like his predecessor Dowley, he’s merely a RedBird representative on the Board of Directors.
