Moretto: Milan Futuro star Diego Sia expected to join Mirandes – the latest

There is always room for surprises on deadline day, and AC Milan letting Diego Sia leave might just fall into that category.

The winter transfer window has seen Milan’s youth sector be more active than the first team, which is perhaps to be expected. There have been several incoming and outgoing deals, and another youngster is ready to move abroad.

Sia heading for Spain

As reported by Matteo Moretto (via Radio Rossonera), Diego Sia is one step away from joining Mirandes, a club in the Spanish Second Division. It is not yet clear whether it will be a loan formula or a permanent deal, with the story having come somewhat out of nowhere.

The departure of Maxi Ibrahimovic for Ajax was a surprise earlier in the window given he was an established starter for the Futuro, but the fact that Sia is also likely to be leaving Milan in the same mercato is another blow for Massimo Oddo’s plans.

This season, Sia has played 17 Serie D matches, 68% of which were as a starter. His end product has been pretty consistent too: with four goals and four assists to his name, the winger has a 27% participation in the total goals scored by Milan Futuro.

Just a few weeks ago, Sia gave an interview in which he spoke positively about his potential pathway to the first team. Now, it seems a new adventure in Spain awaits.
