AC Milan are pushing hard to sign Koni De Winter as soon as possible, with the player hoping to make the move quickly.
Malick Thiaw’s sale to Newcastle United is now imminent, which has forced Milan to go out and find a replacement. Giovanni Leoni of Parma and Pietro Comuzzo of Fiorentina have been linked, but it seems De Winter is who they are going for.
Fabrizio Romano‘s latest update is as follows: “AC Milan have sent opening bid to Genoa for Koni De Winter, package worth €20m fee. Genoa want €25m, talks underway to get the deal done very soon. De Winter also wants the move asap.”
Matteo Moretto confirms that Milan have submitted their first official offer for the Belgian, worth €20m including bonuses. Genoa is aiming to receive a total of approximately €25m. The two clubs are negotiating to reach a definitive agreement as soon as possible.

Allegri’s comments
After today’s friendly against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge – one in which Milan used Filippo Terracciano and Andrei Coubis in a back three – Massimiliano Allegri was asked about losing Thiaw.
“It’s a shame he’s gone. The club is looking for a replacement, but that’s the way the transfer market works: we have to accept it and keep working. I have some excellent players in the squad who have made themselves available to each other,” he said.
