Matteo Moretto does not believe that PSV Eindhoven’s Ryan Flamingo is a target for AC Milan, as they are focusing solely on signing a striker.
Massimiliano Allegri’s tactical approach during the preseason friendlies drew intrigue. In particular, his repeated use of a three-man defence – rather than the 4-3-3 many were convinced he would use – was rather striking.
There have been suggestions in the media that if Allegri intends to continue with a three-man defence, having four centre-backs is no longer enough and it would be necessary to bring another one in. One of the targets linked was Flamingo, along with Caleb Okoli and Berat Djimsiti.
In a video published on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Matteo Moretto spoke about Milan’s mercato movements, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“In recent days, PSV central defender Ryan Flamingo, 22 years old, a great prospect, has been linked to Milan, but as I have already told you, I am not aware of this possibility, just as I am not aware that Milan are looking for another central defender after De Winter,” he said.
“Now the Rossoneri are focused solely on the striker. Hojlund is an option, but he’s not the only name; other candidates like Embolo remain. However, as of today, there’s no indication that Milan will pursue PSV’s Flamingo.”
