Matteo Moretto has confirmed that AC Milan are now closing in on a deal for Ardon Jashari after steps forward were taken on Monday.
The Jashari saga has been without doubt the most tiring in recent years, with weeks of negotiations between two clubs who did not want to budge an inch. In fact, it seemed a few days ago as though Milan would actually move on altogether, and potentially pursue Javi Guerra of Valencia.
Then, on Monday, there were reports of a breakthrough. Sacha Tavolieri of Sky Switzerland even branded it a done deal: “EXCLUSIVE: Ardon Jashari set to become AC Milan player! Agreement REACHED with Club Brugge. Now it’s only about fixing the payment terms. Five-year contract.”
Milan optimistic
In a video on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Moretto takes stock of the negotiations between Milan and Brugge for Jashari and he also revealed his belief that the deal will now be done.
“So many questions, Jashari yes or Jashari no. I want to preface this by saying: Milan have actually been very close to signing Jashari once or twice already, but in both cases the deal never got to a conclusion,” he said (via MilanNews).
“Until we get the final yes from Brugge to close the deal, we’ll stay calm. Brugge has expressed openness to re-talking with Milan about the offer they made, with complete openness and availability.

“Constant contact has been ongoing, even in the last few hours. Milan have regained its optimism and feels they can secure Jashari. The two clubs are discussing the payment plan for the deal, the deal itself.
“Brugge would like to close the deal in four installments. I’m told Milan hasn’t raised the offer, and the figures are more or less the same: €33.5m + bonuses. We’ll have to see tomorrow [today] whether Brugge will say yes and whether the two clubs will reach a full agreement.
“There’s great optimism, Milan feels they’re very close to signing Jashari, but before we can say ‘it’s done’. we’re waiting to see if Brugge will say yes and give the OK. Jashari also did everything he could to join Milan today [yesterday], he insisted a lot and again, trying to force his hand again. We’ll see if that’s enough.”
