Moretto: Milan’s deal for Fullkrug ‘advanced’ after ‘negative’ Gimenez feedback – the situation

Niclas Fullkrug seems to be getting closer and closer to joining AC Milan, with negotiations proceeding at pace.

In the past week or so, the rumours about Fullkrug have moved from him being offer to the Milan management to something more serious. In fact, talks with the player and West Ham are at an advanced stage as announced by Matteo Moretto on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel.

“Fullkrug, the German striker at West Ham, is on his way out of West Ham, who have already communicated this to the player. There has been a discussion between the parties, between Fullkrug and West Ham themselves, in which it was clearly decided to part ways in January,” he said.

“Fullkrug is looking for a team, and we were the first to link his name to Milan, and two days ago we were the first to talk about this acceleration, about Tare’s desire to sign Fullkrug as soon as possible.

“The feedback we were getting about Gimenez’s situation was negative, physically speaking, and it’s no coincidence that Gimenez is undergoing surgery. Milan has decided to go all-in on Fullkrug. This deal could be beneficial to Milan on a technical level, as they lack a player with these characteristics, but clearly, financially, it’s a simple operation.

“Milan would like to complete the deal on a dry loan, from now until the end of the season, while West Ham are asking for an option to buy. The two parties will most likely meet halfway with an option to buy, but I can confirm that Milan wants to secure Fullkrug as soon as possible to have him in Milan as soon as possible.

“I can confirm that discussions are underway between the clubs to finalise the details of the deal, in terms of terms and conditions. The player has already given his approval. Then, Milan will have to finalise Fullkrug’s contract, as they need to make some financial adjustments. So, it’s not a done deal, but it’s at an advanced stage.”

The right fit?

It seems that Milan have decided to go down the route of getting perhaps the most simple deal done ahead of time, so it can be pushed through as soon as the window is open. However, looking at Fullkrug’s numbers, there are some understandable doubts.

Since he arrived in England in the summer of 2024 from Borussia Dortmund, the German has played just 29 games, scoring three goals. In between, there were three significant injuries as well.

In September 2024: Achilles tendon inflammation and 16 missed games. In January 2025: thigh problem and another twelve games missed. Finally, October 2025: torn muscle and a month and a half out. The result? Füllkrug hasn’t scored since April 5th.
