Moretto: Milan star remains on Bayern Munich’s list after Williams disappointment

Despite the denials that had been forthcoming over the weekend, Bayern Munich are in fact still evaluating a move for Rafael Leao.

On Saturday, the words of Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß made the news. When asked about Leao being a target, his response was: “No, no, no. Max Everl told me he had some talks, but they were not fruitful and it was never a topic brought up.”

At the moment, therefore, there is no doubt about the future of the Portuguese who will be there for day one of the preseason retreat today, under the orders of the new coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Leao on Bayern’s list

In a video yesterday evening that was published on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Matteo Moretto (via MilanNews) clarified the situation by underlining and reiterating that Bayern never made any official offers to Milan for Leao.

Rather, the Bavarian club – who are in search of a new left winger – have drawn up a list of candidates that has been discussed internally. Within this shortlist, the name of Rafael Leao also appears.

However, the journalist goes on to add that Nico Williams was the number one target, and he will remain in Bilbao after renewing. If Leao is the number two choice remains to be seen.
