It seems that AC Milan have been beaten to the signing of Angers star Sidiki Cherif by a team in the Premier League.
For weeks, the name of Cherif has been mentioned as a transfer target for Milan, whose scouts are always active in Ligue 1 looking for the next Rafael Leao-esque talent that they can bring across the Alps.
Cherif is one of the top talents in Ligue 1 with four top flight goals to his name at the age of just 19. Several Bundesliga clubs have been mentioned as suitors, but several sources claimed the Rossoneri are also very interested in the youngster, especially if Christopher Nkunku were to be sold.
Cherif chooses Crystal Palace
However, Matteo Moretto has now confirmed on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel that the teenager is in fact heading to south London rather than to northern Italy because there is an agreement for him to join Crystal Palace.

“I said a few weeks ago that Milan didn’t have high hopes of landing Cherif. The player’s entourage was moving him towards other leagues, for financial reasons as well as for the sporting project.
“I confirm what they’re writing in France, where they talk about a verbal agreement between Cherif and Crystal Palace. Milan therefore withdrew.”
This could be a boost for Milan’s hopes of landing Jean-Philippe Mateta from Palace. His deal expires in 2027 and both Moretto and Romano confirmed the Rossoneri’s interest late last year.
