This morning, Matteo Moretto has given some information about the situation between AC Milan and Newcastle United’s interest in Malick Thiaw.
There is a lot that Milan have to sort in the final days of the mercato. Ultimately, the club are looking at a pretty financially heavy summer right now. Of course, that can be solved. However, sales are needed at this point.
The Rossoneri definitely look better for their work until now, though there are still some gaps in the team which need addressing. It is also possible that new gaps emerge, which would benefit no one, even if there is money for it.
Newcastle pushing hard
In the past few days, Thiaw’s situation has been regularly discussed with Newcastle becoming interested again. So, Matteo Moretto looked at the situation on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube, as relayed by MilanNews.
“Newcastle are looking for a central defender and have returned to the hunt for Thiaw , whom the English club has already negotiated in the past. In the last few hours there have been new contacts between the two clubs. Allegri would like to keep Thiaw, but there are no unsellable players at Milan, so with the right offer the German could leave.
“So what could be the right price? They tell me it could be around €40 million, including bonuses . The off-market offer is expected to be between €40 and €45 million, but I believe that if Newcastle were to reach €40 million, including bonuses, it could be enough.
“The English club are pushing hard, we’ll see if they raise the bid in the next few days.”

If the Geordies were to submit a bid around the €40 million mark, it could unlock the route to Giovanni Leoni. Perhaps, that is a deal worth making for the Diavolo.
