Moretto offers update on striker pursuit as Milan target high-profile players

AC Milan are looking to bolster their squad with a striker this summer, aiming for an Olivier Giroud-esque player, and several high-profile No.9s are on their radar.

Last season, Milan had Alvaro Morata, Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic at their disposal up front. Then, the Spaniard was swapped out for Santiago Gimenez, who arrived from Feyenoord during the January window. The Mexican is now also the only remaining striker in the squad.

Jovic’s contract expired at the end of June, while Abraham returned to Roma as his loan came to an end. As such, a striker is needed before the start of next season and Igli Tare is working on the matter, as highlighted by Matteo Moretto in one of his latest videos.

Moretto’s words on the No.9 role

“Regarding Nico Jackson, Milan had new contacts today to try to delve deeper into the financial aspect of the deal. It’s difficult, but Nico Jackson has been a Milan obsession for some time. And today, Milan tried to delve a little deeper into the nuances of this situation.

“There have been discussions, but the operation remains very complicated. For Chelsea, he’s a player who can leave the club, but only on their terms. Let’s see if Milan can actually reach these conditions. Two days ago, I told you that it’s a very, very complicated negotiation financially, and we’ll see if there are any openings in this direction.

“Mateta is a name that remains on the shortlist, along with Dusan Vlahovic and Victor Boniface, even though he is a very difficult profile financially. Mateta is a name that Allegri is certainly evaluating. Thanks to his characteristics, he’s an intriguing profile,” he said as transcribed by MilanNews.
