Jose Mourinho believes that the Serie A title race is between three different clubs, with AC Milan named among them.
Looking at the Serie A table at present, calling it a three-team race might actually be somewhat reductive. From Milan in first down to Juventus in seventh there is a gap of eight points, so while only one point separates Milan, Napoli and Inter in the top three positions there is a lot still to play for.
The Rossoneri’s self-declared goal heading into the 2025-26 season is to get a Champions League place. However, with no European football to content with and no deep Coppa Italia run, belief is growing that the second star could be obtainable.
Mourinho spoke at a press conference following Benfica’s Champions League victory against Napoli last night and he was asked a question about the race for the league title in Italy.
“It’s difficult to say who will win Serie A. Inter have great potential, with a top squad. Napoli are the same. Milan play one game a week, they have a fantastic coach in Allegri, who can coach in a way that Conte and Chivu can’t because they have so many games to play,” he said (via MilanPress).
“Unfortunately , I think it will be a challenge between these three teams. I say unfortunately because I would really like Roma to win: I would also go and celebrate at the Circus Maximus, but I don’t think so.”
