MP: ‘A thorny situation’ – Milan must overcome Gimenez challenge moving forward

1 hour ago 29

Santiago Gimenez has been the starting striker for AC Milan, mainly out of necessity, this season. Now, with others ready, he faces an uphill battle.

The situation with Gimenez is tough. After a year, many hoped that the Mexican would be ready for the role which Milan wanted – and needed – him to play. However, with his last goals in Serie A coming almost six months ago, it says a lot.

21 shots. 0 goals.

Since his brace against Bologna on May 9, Gimenez has had 21 shots on goal, whilst only managing six on target, whilst he’s also missed seven big chances. As a striker, the signs of struggle do not get much clearer.

Now, reports suggest that he has until January to return to his previous form. Unfortunately, he has also had to spend some time sidelined with an ankle injury, which he claims to have been suffering from for a while.

MilanPress, today, writes that the Rossoneri are now in a crucial stage. The situation is a ‘thorny’ one, and a decision needs to be made regarding how to approach his future.

On one hand, there is the desire to ‘rediscover’ the talent that scored goals for fun at Feyenoord. On the other hand, there are risks with continuing to persist with a striker who doesn’t score.

Perhaps he will stay until the end of the year, to allow more time for work, especially with less pressure on his back. However, answers are needed, and they are needed soon.
