MP: ‘Art of patience’ – Ricci forced to bide time until Milan opportunity arrives

Before joining AC Milan, many thought that Samuele Ricci would be the crown jewel for someone. However, things change.

When Manchester City are considering you as a Rodri replacement, you know what kind of quality is possessed. However, Ricci arrived at Milan – after the aforementioned signed Tijjani Reijnders – and now watches from the sidelines.

There is no denying his quality; however, Massimiliano Allegri has preferred to use Ballon d’Or winner and maestro Luka Modric. It is not to say Ricci isn’t good, far from it, but Modric is better and is more needed.

Bide your time

So, the Italian’s minutes have been lacking since the summer, and with that, he has lost his international place. Neither was really expected when he joined, as MilanPress writes, but it is natural considering the circumstances.

Allegri has regularly praised the midfielder, and had Luka Modric not been so good so far, he probably would have been given a chance. However, the Croatian is a genius and undroppable in his current form.

Ricci works in the background then, and shadows Modric, looking to learn his secrets and any lessons available. In the short term, it may be frustrating, but the long-term benefits will be seen eventually.

Even Gennaro Gattuso spoke about the benefits of his position recently, and the midfielder can certainly manufacture a place in his Italy team before next summer. The season is long, and Ricci is patient.

Both coaches appreciate him and his qualities; it is just a case of waiting.
