Mundo Deportivo: Barcelona defender has ‘no interest whatsoever’ in Milan move

Gerard Martín has no interest in leaving Barcelona ahead of 2026-27, despite the recent links with a move to AC Milan.

The reliable Matteo Moretto reported earlier in the week that Milan are interested in signing Martin in the summer transfer window. After being linked with a number of defenders in the winter one did not arrive, and so the necessity to strengthen the back line remains.

Martin to snub Milan

According to Mundo Deportivo, Gerard Martín has ‘no interest whatsoever’ in listening to Milan’s advances. He is at the club he dreamed of playing for since childhood and, moreover, has earned an important role.

In the summer, several Premier League clubs inquired about the 23-year-old. The player’s desire, however, has always been the same: to stay in Barcelona. In his first season at Barça, he proved to be a valuable asset for the reserve team, and in his second he won over Hansi Flick.

In his third, he broadened his repertoire and established himself as a centre-back when needed. Then, Christensen’s injury, Araujo’s absence and Eric Garcia’s shift into midfield saw him get more senior minutes.

This season he has already featured in 34 matches and has racked up over 1700 minutes played, showing that he very much has the faith of Flick. Not only that, but in January 2025 he renewed his contract until 2028 with a €100m release clause. Milan, it seems, will have to look elsewhere.
