The January mercato is approaching rapidly, and AC Milan are making considerations about several moves.

Football moves fast, and the next mercato will be open in 10 weeks’ time, so Milan are making preparations early to ensure they can strengthen Massimiliano Allegri’s squad in the right ways. In fact, several ideas are already present.

Earlier today, it was reported that the Italian wants two signings to bolster his squad, in the hopes of improving his team’s chances of winning the Scudetto, and there are several possibilities for those two signings.

An ambitious move

What is a definite, though, is that Allegri wants another central defender, and whilst Kim Min-Jae may be the preference, there is another idea being formed.

According to Mundo Deportivo, who cite Italian sources, the club’s interest has been piqued by Jose Maria Gimenez, as Get Football News relays (via Yahoo).

The Uruguayan’s position at the Wanda Metropolitano has slipped in recent times, and he has only made two starts this season, most recently in the Champions League against Arsenal this week. Despite this, he would be a leading target for the Rossoneri in January.

Whilst it would be considered ‘unlikely’ at the moment, a return in the summer could be possible, if a deal is not made in the winter.
