Yunus Musah has today offered an explanation on his move to Atalanta and what he hopes the exit from AC Milan can bring.
When Milan signed Musah, there was a lot of hope about what they would be getting. A former member of the Arsenal academy, a winger turned central midfielder, it seemed the Rossoneri were getting a future gem.
However, he never really found continuity, both in terms of game time and his actual position. The American was deployed as a winger, a wing-back, a midfielder and even a right-back. He played everywhere, but never to a great level.
Musah’s words
A move this summer seemed almost guaranteed, but then issues elsewhere halted progress until the very late stages. Nevertheless, he ended up moving to Bergamo, and La Dea can make the move permanent next summer.
Today, he spoke to L’Eco di Bergamo about the move, and MilanNews have relayed his words.
“As an opponent, I had always considered Atalanta a tough and organised club. I wanted to continue my development at a great team, and Atalanta is just that. Playing in the Champions League is a huge motivation, as is the trust I immediately felt from Percassi, D’Amico, and Juric.
“It was the right place for me. As soon as I arrived, I understood why Atalanta is so respected: here, they work seriously, with humility and a spirit of sacrifice. Every player wants to give their all for their teammates. It’s a positive energy, which you feel every day in training.

“I like playing in midfield, where I can combine defence and build-up play. But I’m also ready to adapt to playing on the wings or behind the strikers. There are players like Ederson, de Roon, and Pasalic here, from whom I’m learning a lot.
“On a personal level, I want to become more decisive in the final third, score and provide more assists. I know I can do better in the attacking zone, and I’m working to become a complete midfielder.”
