‘My desire’ – Jesus comments on Milan links ahead of San Siro Champions League visit

There were a few links between AC Milan and Gabriel Jesus as the January mercato rolled around, but the striker will not leave Arsenal, it seems.

With Santiago Gimenez injured and Christopher Nkunku failing to set the stage alight, Milan were linked to several strikers ahead of this month’s mercato opening. However, it always seemed more likely that a more physical option would arrive.

Jesus, then, would have been an option for a few months, if Christopher Nkunku departed, given the fees discussed for the Frenchman and the wages that it would free. But it never went any further than being an idea, with the former Chelsea man rejecting any advances.

Jesus discusses future

Today, the Brazilian striker spoke to the press before his game against Inter in the Champions League, and given the links to the other occupants of San Siro, he was asked about his future, as Calciomercato.com relays.

“My desire is to stay here [at Arsenal] and renew my contract, but we haven’t talked about it yet.””

With a salary of €9 million per year, there would have to be a significant effort made to sign the striker, and with Niclas Fullkrug and Nkunku scoring goals recently, the need for a striker is far from urgent.
