Hello and welcome to football.london for live coverage of Chelsea's trip to Newcastle United in the Premier League this afternoon.
The Blues picked up a much-needed three points in the league seven days ago as they saw off Everton 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. That was quickly followed by a less than convincing 3-1 victory over Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup quarter-final. Even though it wasn't vintage Chelsea, if Enzo Maresca's side pick up the win today, they will have some momentum going into Christmas.
However, trips to St. James' Park have not always been fruitful for the west Londoners. Especially in recent times, with Chelsea losing their last four visits - in all competitions - to Tyneside. Maresca was beaten twice here in his debut season with the Blues, with his team crashing out of the Carabao Cup in October, before being defeated towards the end of the campaign in the league.
Maresca and his players will be desperate to end their torrid recent record at St. James' this afternoon. Kick-off is at 12:30pm (UK time) and you can follow live coverage with Bobby Vincent on duty throughout the day.
