Nicolas Jackson's agent releases statement as key Chelsea transfer breakthrough made

3 weeks ago 8

Bayern Munich are closing in on the loan signing of Nicolas Jackson with the German champions now prepared to include an obligation to buy in the contract.

Jackson looks set to finally complete his loan move to the Allianz Arena with Bayern prepared to include an obligation to buy the striker within the contract. Initially, Chelsea agreed a loan deal with Bayern - on Saturday morning - where there was going to be a €15million (£13million) loan fee, with an option to buy the 24-year-old next summer for €65million (£56.2million).

However, with Liam Delap suffering a hamstring injury in Saturday's win over Fulham, Chelsea decided to pull the plug on the loan deal and told Jackson to fly back to London having only just landed in Munich to finalise the move. Jackson and his representatives were left unhappy with the circumstances and have ever since been trying to salvage the deal.

Late on Sunday night, football.london was told by people close to the deal that the move was off. There was another U-turn on Monday, though, when the same sources confirmed negotiations were back underway, with Jackson's agent Ali Barat fighting to save the deal in Munich.

Barat has since released a statement: "Nico was ready. Bayern was ready. We were all aligned on a world-class project. For the agreement to be withdrawn at the final moment is deeply frustrating.

"But we won’t give up. I will fight with everything I have to make sure Nico’s next step reflects his talent, ambition, and the plan we built together. We Hope that Chelsea can cover Liam Delap’s unfortunate injury."

This transfer saga is finally reaching its conclusion, it seems. Unless, of course, there is another twist - which, at this point, you would be brave to completely rule out.
