Nine players Chelsea could sign this month as Liam Rosenior eyes January transfer window spree

The Chelsea sporting directors are in a race against time to bolster Liam Rosenior's side

Chelsea have been tipped to sign as many as nine players before the transfer window slams shut. Since forking out nearly £300m on new players in January 2023, the Blues have been reluctant to splash the cash midway through the season.

However, with Liam Rosenior eager to put his stamp on the team, higher-ups at Stamford Bridge could gift the new head coach a couple of signings to help him implement his ideas. The Chelsea sporting directors are running out of time though, with deadline day just around the corner.

Unless any opportunities in the market arise, the Blues could be forced to pay premium fees for leaving their business so late into the window. So, with help from BOYLE Sports, football.london has looked at nine players Chelsea could sign before February 3.

Ruben Neves – 8/1

Neves will be a free agent in the summer. If the 28-year-old midfielder doesn't sign a contract extension, Al-Hilal will be forced to make a difficult decision on his future sooner rather than later.

The Saudi Pro League outfit will have to weigh up whether they'd rather risk losing Neves for free at the end of the season or cut their losses and cash in before the transfer window shuts. It could be difficult, however, to prise the former Wolves star from Al-Hilal midway through the season; they're currently unbeaten with a four-point lead at the top of the table.

Kobbie Mainoo – 10/1

Kobbie Mainoo was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea until Manchester United sacked Ruben Amorim. The 20-year-old midfielder has recently entered the final 18 months of his contract at Old Trafford, so there's still an element of uncertainty about his future.

Rodrygo – 14/1

Rodrygo faced an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer, but Xabi Alonso, who has since been sacked by Real Madrid, convinced him to stay. Not much has changed for the 25-year-old winger, who continues to play second fiddle to Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr.

Micky van de Ven – 16/1

Van de Ven has been a shining light in the darkness at Tottenham this season. Despite the Lilywhites' disappointing results in the Premier League, the 24-year-old defender has proven that he's more than capable of handling himself on the European stage.

If Spurs fail to qualify for the Champions League, or worse still, either of the other two UEFA competitions, some big names could leave Thomas Frank's side.

Nathan Ake – 16/1

Ake has less than 18 months left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium. The 30-year-old has only started four games in the Premier League this season, and now Manchester City have signed Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, so he hardly has much of a look-in, despite the wave of injuries to Pep Guardiola's other defenders.

James Trafford – 20/1

Trafford was dropped as soon as Manchester City signed Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the summer transfer window. The 23-year-old goalkeeper has rarely played, with the majority of his minutes coming in the Carabao Cup.

Omar Marmoush – 25/1

Marmoush seems to have fallen out of favour at Manchester City. The 26-year-old forward, whom Pep Guardiola signed from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59m last year, has only played about 400 minutes this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

He did, in fairness, suffer a knee injury at the start of the campaign and then go to the Africa Cup of Nations over the festive period, so he may well still have a future at the Etihad Stadium.

Adam Wharton – 25/1

Wharton could be the next big name to leave Selhurst Park this month. The 21-year-old midfielder has established himself as a key player in Oliver Glasner's side, starting all but two of Crystal Palace's matches in the Premier League this season.

With the Eagles boss set to leave at the end of the campaign, he seems to face a somewhat uncertain future in south London. As it stands, Wharton looks set to be included in the England squad ahead of the World Cup, but he may feel that a move away could cement a place in the starting lineup.

Jorgen Strand Larsen – 33/1

Strand Larsen has featured 24 times across all competitions for Wolves this season, scoring six goals and providing two assists. The 25-year-old striker, whose contract at Molinuex expires in June 2030, has largely disappointed, having set the bar so high last term.

Strand Larsen had a superb end to the 2024/25 campaign, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in his final nine Premier League games. The Norway international saved Wolves from relegation, attracting the interest of some top clubs.
