Fabrizio Romano has ruled out the possibility of Inter making a move to sign AC Milan captain Mike Maignan on a free transfer.
A lot of the headlines at the moment regarding Milan involve Maignan, especially after his heroics against Inter. His contract expires at the end of the season which backs the club into a corner, but the management are apparently readying one final try to convince him to stay.
Understandably though, club are circling in the Premier League, and Juventus have been linked too. On Tuesday, though, a shock report suggested that Inter are keen on signing the goalkeeper that thwarted them in Sunday night’s derby.
Maignan to Inter: Romano’s words
Now, Fabrizio Romano has responded to the speculation regarding the Nerazzurri plotting another Calhanoglu-esque free transfer coup, speaking in a video published on his YouTube channel.

“Regarding Maignan’s renewal, the talks with Milan are completely stalled. After Juventus, in the past 24 hours there have also been rumours about Inter’s desire to sign Mike Maignan,” he said.
“Today, with all due respect to those who reported this, we have no evidence of any ongoing talks or even thoughts between Inter and Mike Maignan, including from the player.
“He is one of the pillars of this Milan team, and his saves, especially the penalties against Roma and Inter, but not only those, have shaped Milan’s campaign so far.
“As for the future, Maignan-Inter, despite the stalled renewal with Milan, is not something we are aware of. There is no indication of any real process, behind the scenes or in direct contacts, between Maignan and Inter.”
