‘No solid talks’ – Romano pours cold water on idea of Milan signing Juventus striker

AC Milan have not made any contact regarding a potential move for Jonathan David ahead of the January window, Fabrizio Romano claims.

Milan have some issues in attack, with Santiago Gimenez and Christopher Nkunku having not yet scored a goal in Serie A, despite the fact that over €70m combined was invested to sign them from Feyenoord and Chelsea respectively.

Tuttosport reported earlier this week that Jonathan David could become the kind of opportunity Milan can’t pass up. The Canadian striker’s potential is well-known, and director Igli Tare even made enquiries about his situation, given his struggles at Juventus.

Milan not in David talks

Milan’s admiration for the forward has been spoken about a lot in recent years. However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has arrived to pour cold water on the report from the Turin-based paper, with a video on his Italian YouTube channel.

“We respect all the rumours, but as of today, I don’t know of any ongoing negotiations between AC Milan and Jonathan David,” he said.

“Those close to the player deny the possibility of him leaving Juventus in January. He aims to stay in Turin, to play his cards. Currently, there are no solid talks with Milan.

He adds another detail, related to the summer links: “When they had the chance to sign him for free, the Rossoneri never considered it because they weren’t convinced.”
