‘Not a five week outing’ – Moretto offers injury update after Gimenez’s announcement

Santiago Gimenez announced that he would be out of action for AC Milan for a little bit, after admitting he was suffering from an ankle injury.

After the Atalanta game, Gimenez’s father spoke about a ‘recurring’ ankle injury which troubled him occasionally. At the time, it seemed somewhat strange that this had not been looked at more, especially if it was continuing to happen.

However, after missing the game against Roma this weekend, the Mexican took to social media to post a statement about the injury.

“For several months, I’ve been playing with an ankle injury that hasn’t allowed me to be 100% fit or comfortable on the pitch.”

Tests pending…

The period which he will spend sidelined has been widely debated, with some even suggesting that it could be more than a month out. It seems this will not be the case, though, with Matteo Moretto offering an update on his YouTube channel last night, as MilanNews relays.

“Santi Gimenez, in an unusual way, announced his injury suspension: he said on his social media that he needs to recover from the ankle injury he’s been carrying for some time. Various recovery times have emerged: in Mexico, they’re even talking about five weeks.

“From what I understand, it’s not a five-week outing, and I’d add that it could be two, three weeks at most: he could be available again after the break. Tests are still pending, and we also need to see how the ankle reacts.”

For Gimenez, returning as soon as possible is a must, especially with him only being given a few months to save his future at the club.
