Zinedine Zidane is a heavily recognised figure in sport, and the French legend has discussed the idea of being offered a job by AC Milan.
There are few figures that can offer a trophy cabinet like Zidane can, even past that, for general accolades, few match the French-Algerian midfielder. In his nearly 20-year career, the midfielder established himself as one of the greatest ever.
As a coach, he impressed too, and even that feels like an understatement. Winning La Liga twice, he is most remembered for his iconic three-peat with Los Blancos in the Champions League. The feat had not been achieved for almost 50 years before his Real Madrid team accomplished it.
Milan and Modric
The French midfielder spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport after the Festival dello Sport yesterday, and he offered a compliment to Luka Modric, whilst also denying that he has ever been offered the head coach job, as MilanNews relays.
“What’s his [Modric’s] secret? He’s eager and he’s good: what more do you need? Would I rather coach CR7 or Modric today? Both. But also Kroos, Benzema, Isco…
“At Real Madrid, I had extraordinary players; they were impressive in training: you never took the ball away from them. Cristiano did lose it a bit every now and then, but he scored incredible, unique goals.”
Job at Milan?
“Had AC Milan offered me the bench in the past? No, that’s not true.”
