Thiago Silva is interested in the idea of finishing his playing career in Europe, amid reports linking him with AC Milan.
Monday’s edition of La Repubblica broke the news that Milan are giving serious thought to the idea of bringing Thiago Silva back to the club in January to boost their Scudetto hopes, 13 years after he departed for Paris Saint-Germain. However, his agent then poured cold water on the idea.
Hope from Brazil
According to O Globo, Thiago Silva is ‘[considering returning to Europe to finish his playing career closer to his family’. They live in England, more specifically London given that his sons both play for Chelsea.
The decision is ‘practically made and should be communicated to Fluminense soon’ as per the source. The 41-year-old would leave the Brazilian club at the end of the season, therefore in the winter, despite his deal actually running until next June.

The club’s board wants to extend his deal, but understands that personal and family matters are guiding his decision. Therefore, an agreement between the parties should be reached after their participation in the Copa do Brasil.
Along with his family, Thiago Silva will evaluate his next steps as a player. Therefore, he is not ruling out possible offers, such as the one from Milan who have ’emerged as a potential suitor in the Italian press’.
The defender wants to prioritise ending his career close to his family, whether in Italy, France, or England, as long as he can travel to be near his children in the English capital on a regular basis.
The plan includes a transition to a coaching career in three years, possibly in an academy or at a smaller club. Recently, Thiago Silva bought a house in London for his wife and children, already looking ahead to a future away from the pitch, at least as an athlete.
