After Milan Futuro’s 3-1 win against Castellanzese, Massimo Oddo spoke to MilanTV and shared his thoughts on the result, as well as Davide Bartesaghi’s brace for the first team.

Oddo and his boys clinched their second consecutive win after a strong performance, moving to fifth place thanks to the three goals scored. Once again, the Rossoneri had to come from behind, but the most important thing was the win.

Speaking to MilanTV and MilanNews after the game, Oddo praised his players for the performance and their composure in front of goal. He was also asked about Davide Bartesaghi’s brace for the first team, since the youngster spent most of last season with the Futuro.

On player growth and Bartesaghi’s brace…

“Our priority isn’t so much growing as a team, but rather through individual growth, which comes first. Many of these guys are growing a lot, and if they get moved up to play for the first team, that means they are good.

“I’m happy for Davide, who scored a brace today. These are the greatest victories: he was relegated with us last year, but now he’s enjoying some success. His growth is much more important than a relegation, which he was certainly disappointed about.”

Another comeback win…

“There are positives and negatives. The team is growing: individually, we’re growing a lot, while as a team, it’s a bit more difficult. Compared to other teams in the division, we’re very young and destined to grow more in proportion. It’s a normal and fair process.

“We played a good match. We need to improve our game management, especially in certain moments when we’re frenetic. I always tell the boys that if the quality of your play leads you to score two or three goals, why should you stop? This is part of a winning mentality that needs to be instilled in the boys’ minds.”

Milan Futuro are currently seven points behind first place, so with a good run in the next few months, they could get closer to the top indeed. It will also be interesting to see which players can make the big leap from the team to the first team soon.
