Oddo reacts after Milan Futuro collapse vs. Leon: “Paying for our inexperience”

AC Milan have continued with the Futuro project this season, and their start to Serie D has been hit and miss so far.

So far, Milan Futuro have played four games this season, winning the preliminary and first round of the Serie D Coppa Italia, and then in the first official games of the season, they have won once and drawn the other game.

That draw came yesterday, with the young Rossoneri dropping a two-goal lead in just 20 minutes. Goals from Gioele Perina and Cheveyo Balentien were made redundant by two levellers in the dying stages of the game.

Oddo’s frustration

It is a part of football, but Massimo Oddo was heavily frustrated by the outcome of the game, with the Futuro coach stating as much to MilanTV last night after full-time.

“We didn’t have a great first half: we were frenetic and confused. In the second half, we did a little better, we played better, and we created more chances. We also made some mistakes: conceding a goal within a minute of the second goal was serious, but it goes hand in hand with our inexperience.

“There was a lapse in concentration, which is understandable for guys who still have a lot of growing to do, especially mentally.”

The league…

“It’s not easy playing in this league; it’s going to be a tough one, and it’ll be difficult to finish among the top spots. We’re paying for our inexperience; we probably have more quality, but we need to leverage that on the pitch alongside other elements.

“We’ll definitely improve, but we’ll make a lot of mistakes early on, like today.”

Of course, it could have been worse, but the expectations for this season will be promotion, after the club were relegated in their first season. So, dropping points easily will be frustrating.
