AC Milan are currently out in Saudi Arabia for the Supecoppa Italiana, and they have used the visit to announce a new partnership.
On the official website, Milan confirm that they and SportPlex will open a new academy in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, marking the club’s first step in this strategic market. It will launch next month, and will be based around the development of sporting, educational and social values.
This project is part of Saudi Vision 2030, led by the Ministry of Sport and the Ministry of Investment. Milan are partnering with SportPlex, Jeddah’s largest indoor multi-sport facility, to focus on excellence, social impact and sustainability.
Club coaches and local experts will apply the ‘AC Milan Method’ to help young players develop technical skills, tactical discipline, and personal growth on and off the field.
Maikel Oettle, Chief Revenue Officer of AC Milan: “The opening of the AC Milan Academy in Jeddah marks the Club’s first concrete step toward a long-term vision in a region that is key to our international growth.
“Saudi Arabia is experiencing significant transformation, with clear goals to develop sport, empower youth, and foster a more active society, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
“Through our partnership with SportPlex, we introduce the AC Milan Method to Jeddah, focusing on excellence, education, and values, to help create sporting, educational, and social value for future generations.”
Muhammed Abudawood, Cofounder and CEO of SportPlex: “Partnering with AC Milan was a natural fit for SportPlex. Our principles and long-term goals are closely aligned.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to bringing world-class football development to our community, combining international expertise with local ambition to inspire the next generation of players and develop future champions on and off the field. On a personal level, it is also a privilege to work with a team I have followed and admired for many years.”
The Middle East is becoming increasingly important for Milan, as shown by the fact tonight’s Supercoppa semi-final is a sell-out. This initiative will help strengthen relationships with regional stakeholders, including institutions and partners.
