AC Milan have confirmed the signing of Pietro Terracciano from Fiorentina on a two-year contract.
With Marco Sportiello’s move to Bergamo confirmed, Milan have moved quickly to bring in a backup replacement. Initially, it seemed that Pierluigi Gollini could arrive, but it quickly shifted to Terracciano.
The 35-year-old joins from La Viola, having played a handful of times last season. However, before the arrival of David De Gea, the Italian was a mainstay in the team, playing just shy of 100 times for the club.
Terracciano announced
With more than 100 general Serie A games under his belt, he provides a wealth of experience, which will be needed to replace Marco Sportiello. Of course, with Mike Maignan staying, it will be unlikely that Terracciano will feature much.
However, he can be useful across the board, if needed, as well as providing some help in a mentoring role to the youth goalkeepers who hope to represent the Rossoneri at the elite level eventually.
This evening, the goalkeeper’s arrival was announced on the club’s official website. With a contract until 2027 – when he will be 37 – he offers a bit of solidity and stability without a big wage (around €800k per year). A move with seemingly no downside. Welcome, Pietro.
