AC Milan have confirmed that Devis Vasquez’s contract with the club has been terminated by mutual consent, allowing the goalkeeper to join his next club on a free transfer.
Vasquez joined Milan in January 2023, arriving for a fee of around €900k from Guarani, but spent most of his time out on loan. First at Sheffield Wednesday for six months, then Ascoli for another six months and finally Empoli for a full season.
The Tuscan side had the option to make the deal permanent, but due to relegation to Serie B, they didn’t do so. As confirmed by Milan on their website just a few minutes ago, Milan and Vasquez have thus agreed to terminate the contract.
Milan’s statement on Vasquez
“AC Milan can confirm the termination of Devis Vásquez’s contract by mutual consent. The club would like to wish him all the best for the next stage of his career,” the statement read.
In other words, Milan will not make any money from Vasquez and will write down the remaining €200k of his value on the accounts. They will also save a little bit in terms of wages, but the figure is indeed nominal, so the contract termination was more about making it easy for the goalkeeper.
