Alex Jimenez’s move to AFC Bournemouth from AC Milan has been turned from a loan into a permanent deal, both clubs have confirmed.
Jimenez joined Bournemouth towards the end of the summer transfer window on an initial loan deal. The formula was a bit more complex than that though: it included an option to buy, that would become an obligation if certain conditions were met.
The last of these conditions was ticked off during Bournemouth’s draw with Aston Villa over the weekend, after which the full-back revealed in an interview with Mundo Deportivo why he chose to leave San Siro for the south coast.
Jimenez to Bournemouth: Officially permanent
Now, the English club have confirmed the deal is permanent on their website: “AFC Bournemouth can confirm that Alex Jiménez has completed a permanent move to the club, having met the appearance threshold required to activate the transfer clause following an initial loan.

“The 20-year-old, who joined the Cherries ahead of the current season, has now featured in more than half of the club’s competitive fixtures, triggering the terms that secure his future until 2031 on the south coast.
“Arriving from AC Milan having come through the prestigious academy at Real Madrid, Jiménez has made a strong impression during his time at the Vitality Stadium, becoming a regular presence and gaining recognition weekly.”
Jimenez has settled in well to life at Bournemouth, having won the club’s Player of the Month award for December. He was also the Sky Sports’ Man of the Match in the 1-1 draw with Brighton just last month and has made 22 appearances in all competitions, with his first Premier League goal coming against Liverpool.
Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this week that the fixed fee will be €19m for the permanent transfer, with Real Madrid retaining 50% of the deal, the rest going to Milan. There are also bonuses exceeding €3m.
