AC Milan have officially confirmed that Christian Comotto has departed on loan to Spezia, but not before renewing his deal.

Comotto has caught the eye during Milan’s preseason, even scoring in the most recent friendly against Perth Glory. It wasn’t just any goal, either: he won a penalty in the first half and stepped up to take it, finishing with a cool panenka.

Last year, after signing his first professional contract (until 2027), Comotto scored four goals across all competitions with the Primavera. The Italian was also a protagonist also at the European Championships with Italy U17s until the semi-final, so he is clearly highly rated.

Despite such a positive last few months, it is perhaps a bit too soon to expect him to be a starting midfielder. Thus, it emerged that the plan was to loan him out, and even during the tour it seemed Spezia had the deal wrapped up.

Comotto to Spezia: Confirmed

On their website, the club write: “AC Milan announces the departure of Christian Comotto to Spezia Calcio on loan until 30 June 2026. At the same time, the player has renewed his contract with the Club until 30 June 2028. The Club wishes Christian all the best for the upcoming season.”

Spezia write on their site: “Spezia Calcio announces that it has acquired midfielder Christian Comotto on loan from AC Milan.

“Born in 2008, Comotto is undoubtedly one of the brightest young talents in Italian football, as he demonstrated in his recent Asian tour with AC Milan, culminating in a delightful chip from the penalty spot, underscoring his personality and technical ability.

“Very young but decidedly mature, he was a key figure in the Rossoneri’s Primavera team last season, and the 2008 season he played the most minutes in the Italian Primavera championship.

“A versatile midfielder with a nose for goal and the grit so dear to the Eagles’ fans, Christian Comotto is ready to make himself available to coach Luca D’Angelo starting today’s training session. Welcome Christian!”
