Official: Colombo will officiate Milan’s encounter with Roma – the record so far

Andrea Colombo will officiate the game between AC Milan and Roma tomorrow evening. For the Rossoneri, it’s a chance to improve their record with the referee.

After 21 games, Milan have an impressive 46 points to their name and haven’t lost since the opening round against Cremonese. However, Inter are currently six points ahead of the Rossoneri, so beating Roma tomorrow will be crucial.

As is always the case, the spotlight will end up on the referee in such a big game, and AIA have picked the 35-year-old Colombo for it (as confirmed on their website).

Only one win so far

Taking a look at Colombo’s record with Milan, it’s not exactly a hugely positive one, even if the sample size is small: four games, one win and three defeats for the Rossoneri. The win was the most recent one, when they beat Juventus 2-1 in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final last season.

The games before that, though, were games to forget for Milan: a 0-2 defeat at home to Napoli, a 1-2 defeat in the derby against Inter, and a 4-2 defeat away at Monza. Three red cards were also handed to the Rossoneri in these games, two of which in the derby (Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria).

It was the infamous game when Inter secured the Scudetto, so tempers were running high at the end, and the red cards were pretty clear. The red card in the Monza game was also clear, as Luka Jovic slapped his opponent.

Marco Di Bello will be in charge of VAR.
