Official: Guida to officiate Milan vs. Roma – many precedents and a positive record

Marco Guida has been named as the referee for AC Milan’s game against Roma on Sunday evening. It certainly won’t be the 44-year-old’s first rodeo.

Milan need to bounce back with a win tomorrow, following two consecutive draws, but Roma are expected to make life difficult for the Rossoneri. The game will take place at San Siro so there will at least be home advantage, with the Curva Sud back in full force since a few weeks back.

In any case, as confirmed by AIA on Friday, Marco Guida will be the head referee for Milan-Roma. He will be assisted by Aleandro Di Paolo, who will be in charge of VAR, and it will be Guida’s 39th game (!) involving the Rossoneri. In fact, it’s the team that he has officiated the most.

His record with the red and black is currently as follows: 18 wins, 11 draws and 9 defeats. Interestingly, Guida has awarded the most penalties to Milan and Roma, with 9 of them awarded to each. Guida has also handed more straight red cards to Milan than any other side (6).

Earlier this season, he officiated the game between Milan and Juventus at Allianz Stadium, in which the Rossoneri were awarded a penalty. It was deemed correct by AIA afterwards, so at least in recent times, there has been no real controversy involving Guida.
