Official: Maignan and Nkunku called up as Rabiot absent from France squad

This afternoon, AC Milan have been given some good news as Adrien Rabiot will remain at Milanello over the international break.

There has been a lot of talk about whether Rabiot would be able to play during the international break, and it seemed like France would be calling him up. However, Milan have been actively attempting to stop this.

Given how his injury initially was caused, and the fact that he is only just on the cusp of a return, there is no desire to lose him again. With Christian Pulisic’s call-up, getting a decision was easier. For Rabiot, though, it has not been as easy, thanks to the timing of World Cup qualifiers.

Rabiot out, Maignan and Nkunku in

Nevertheless, it seems an agreement was found, with the French National Team squad being announced today.

In that list, Mike Maignan and Christopher Nkunku have been given call-ups, which is really promising for the forward; however, Rabiot is nowhere to be seen. So, instead, the midfielder will remain in Italy over the break to focus on returning.

Perhaps, if the game after the break was not the Derby della Madonnina, things would be different. However, that luxury is not present, and the Rossoneri want the best squad available.
