Official: Milan confirm permanent departure of Futuro defender Coubis to Sampdoria

AC Milan, this afternoon, have confirmed that Andrei Coubis has left the club permanently, with a deal being agreed with Sampdoria, where he is currently on loan.

Whilst the Futuro project is seen as a pathway into the first team, it can also be a method for Milan to get eyes on young players who do not have a future at the club and the sale of Coubis is proof of that.

Unfortunately, after his senior ‘debut’ against Chelsea in pre-season, it was proven that he probably would not have space in the first team this season. So, he headed to Sampdoria on loan, with a conditional obligation to buy.

At the time, it was reported that the clause was valued at €150k, so it is certainly not a mind-blowing figure. However, the retention of a 50% future sell-on is nice and could be worth something in the future.

Coubis departs: The statement

This afternoon, his permanent exit was confirmed on the club’s website, with the statement reading as follows.

“AC Milan announces that they have sold, outright, the sporting performances of footballer Andrei Coubiș to U.C. Sampdoria

“The Club wishes Andrei the best satisfaction for the continuation of his professional career.”
