Thiago Silva has been announced as a new player for Porto. It’s a move that accelerated after AC Milan decided not to proceed with their initial interest.
In desperate need of a centre-back, several options have been mentioned in the media for the Rossoneri. Yesterday, it was reported that Massimiliano Allegri had asked the management to sign Thiago Silva, and that was backed up by another report today.
However, Milan never moved beyond an initial interest and now, Porto have announced the Brazilian as their new defender. On their official website, it’s stated that the 41-year-old has signed a contract until the end of the season, with an option for an additional year.

For the Rossoneri, their pursuit will thus continue and it seems they are looking for someone who can play both as a centre-back and as a wing-back. Given the experience Thiago Silva would have added, however, one can certainly question the management’s decision.
Furthermore, the veteran still has a whole lot to play for as he wants to make Brazil’s squad for the World Cup next summer. In short, he wouldn’t have joined Milan just to reunite with Allegri and have good vibes. Let’s see if the Rossoneri will end up regretting their decision.
