Tommaso Pobega’s loan spell at Bologna has been turned into a permanent one after various clauses were triggered, it has been confirmed.
After the winter window closed, Alex Jimenez’s move to AFC Bournemouth from Milan was turned from a loan into a permanent deal, both clubs recently confirmed. The formula was a loan with option that would become an obligation if certain conditions were met.
Pobega to Bologna: Officially permanent
That was the same formula via which Pobega headed back to Bologna during the most recent summer window, and reports had surfaced suggesting that the targets had been met so the permanent switch was close.
Now, a statement on Bologna’s website has officially confirmed the news: “Bologna FC 1909 announces that it has exercised its option to permanently acquire Tommaso Pobega from AC Milan: the midfielder has signed a contract until June 30, 2028, with an option for the following season.”

According to PianetaMilan, his permanent transfer was merely a formality anyway as Bologna would complete his purchase after securing at least one point starting from February 1 onwards. Their win over Torino at the weekend got them over the line.
The Italian has amassed seven goals and provided five assists in 55 appearances at Bologna across all competitions since joining them at the start of last season. It brings to an end a 13-year association with Milan, whom he joined as a youth player in 2013.
