Milan Futuro produced late drama this afternoon in their away game against Varesina, coming from behind to win 2-1 right at the death.
After throwing away the win last weekend against Brusaporto when they conceded a late penalty, this time the Futuro were on the right end of an exciting finish. They trailed going into the closing stages, but Maximilian Ibrahimovic and Andrea Magrassi scored in a dramatic late turnaround.
After the game, the head coach Massimo Oddo spoke to Milan TV to offer his thoughts on the match, and he highlighted his pride in the response that came from his side.
“Winning is always important. I’m happy because the team played well in terms of play and spirit. We always make these mistakes, conceding avoidable goals to others,” he said.
“We lack focus and cunning, but the team responded, played a great game, and created goals. The new arrivals did well, three-quarters were the Primavera team. We’re on the right path; what matters is growth, and today we saw good individual and team growth.
“We only have two seniors, Magrassi and Branca. They’re intelligent guys, they know where they are and what their job is, which is to help these guys, the team, and when they come in, they always do, they never fail to do so.
“The spirit is right, and that’s what these guys need, also because they need a bit of experience. The message Magrassi gave today, beyond the goal, is to come in with the right spirit to lend a hand to the team, as Branca himself did and always does. Because guys don’t grow alone, but also through example.”
Max Ibrahimovic – who sparked the comeback with his equaliser from close range – also spoke to Milan TV to offer his thoughts on a victory that will hopefully spark the team into life.
“I’m very happy with the team’s performance and with bringing home the three points. That’s what matters. I always have confidence in myself, and I’m happy to score.
“We’re working well as a team; it’s not just that I’m scoring, the others are giving me assists. It’s always nice to win together; we’re all friends in the team. That we’re strong is a given. That we all play for Milan… we do what we have to do.”
