Only one win in 12 games: Milan hoping for Allegri effect against Torino

1 day ago 10

Hoping to remain at the top of the standings, AC Milan will be looking for a win away at Torino on Monday evening. However, previous results in this fixture suggest that it will be a very difficult task.

Due to their Coppa Italia clash on Thursday, the league game against Torino was scheduled for Monday rather than Sunday. It means Milan will know the results of their Scudetto rival before the game kicks off, which could be both an advantage and a disadvantage.

In any case, especially since the Lazio game ended in defeat, the Rossoneri will be looking to redeem themselves and Max Allegri even has some things to prove tactically as well. Of course, a win would also help them remain top of the standings.

Nightmare record

Taking a look at previous results in the Torino-Milan fixture, it’s clear that Allegri and his men have quite the challenge on their hands. In the last 12 games at Stadio Grande Torino, the Rossoneri have won just one game (!), drawing six and losing five.

Milan's record away at Torino

The most recent meeting ended 2-1 in favour of Torino following a crazy Malick Thiaw own-goal, as well as a missed penalty by Christian Pulisic. Tijjani Reijnders scored the Rossoneri’s goal but it wasn’t enough.

It remains to be seen if Allegri will have any effect on Milan’s attempt to reverse the trend. In his first spell with Juventus, he managed four wins and one defeat at the stadium, while he got two wins and one draw in his second spell with the Bianconeri.
