Whilst the draw against Atalanta was not ideal, Massimiliano Allegri has reached a milestone in charge of AC Milan.
There are certainly a few things that Milan can be frustrated by this season. The loss to Cremonese and the two recent draws are far from ideal. However, there are lessons that Allegri will refer to with his squad when he speaks of the level expected.
Taking a step back, though, shows quite a good picture for the Rossoneri.
Pioli, now Allegri
As Opta (via MilanNews) reports, the draw in Bergamo was the ninth consecutive unbeaten game that the squad have had in all competitions. This is a first since Stefano Pioli in April-May 2023, and even nicer after last season.
This is still going whilst the Livorno-born coach has to deal with injuries to key players in his squad, which makes it more impressive, given there are other things to contend with, too. Even then, though, it can be argued that the coach will have wanted more.
Everyone is focused on the Champions League, but the Scudetto looks like a feasible outcome for the season so far, and so Allegri will not want his team to miss out on an opportunity of that size. For now, it is just about keeping results coming; what happens in May, happens.
