Pato says Allegri ‘is a guarantee’ for Milan: “There are few coaches as good as him”

Alexandre Pato has praised AC Milan’s decision to bring back Max Allegri to coach the team, recalling how fundamental the 57-year-old was for the 2010-11 Scudetto.

After what was an incredibly poor 2024-25 season, enthusiasm has been somewhat restored among the fans thanks to the arrival of Allegri, but also the likes of Samuele Ricci and Luka Modric. Indeed, the season ticket sales numbers have been impressive so far.

With a few more signings on the way, including Ardon Jashari, the hope is that Allegri can bring Milan back to the top and perhaps even fight for the Scudetto. The lack of European competitions, after all, will allow them to focus more on the league.

Pato praises Allegri

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport yesterday, as transcribed by MilanNews, the former Milan striker Pato spoke about his time with Allegri and above all the Scudetto season. He praised the Rossoneri for hiring the manager.

“Seeing Allegri on this bench brings back fond memories, those of the Scudetto we won together. We had a team of champions like Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva, Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf, Nesta, and all the others. We were an exceptional group and we brought AC Milan back to the top.

“Now I hope these players can do it. The first objective must be qualifying for the Champions League, then… We’ll see. Allegri is a guarantee: there are few coaches as good as him around. He’s the same as he was 15 years old and still knows how to make the group love him,” he stated.
