Pavlovic enjoys double celebration with Roma winner: “I’m going to be a father”

Strahinja Pavlovic was the match-winner for AC Milan against Roma, and he explained his new role under Massimiliano Allegri.

Milan had to withstand half an hour of strong pressure from Roma at San Siro, but they managed to weather the storm and score with one of their first attacks. Rafael Leao went on a typical darting run to the byline and cut it back where the unlikely figure of Pavlovic was waiting to fire in.

The Rossoneri probably should have had more goals and put the contest to bed earlier. However, they were made to sweat right until the end, and Mike Maignan even pulled out a penalty save 10 minutes from time to deny Paulo Dybala and preserve the win.

After the game, Pavlovic spoke to DAZN to share his emotions after a fantastic night for him personally but also for the team, with his comments via MilanNews.

What feelings does a night like that give you?

“I’m very happy with this goal and the victory. I’m also very happy because I’m going to be a father. I’m too tired from speaking Italian, sorry (laughs).”

With a three-man defence, are you more free to attack?

“This year we have a lot of teams competing for the Scudetto, it will be tough until the end. Scoring is something I enjoy doing. The coach also appreciates these types of runs; he gives me a lot of direction.

“And as I was running, I thought about what he told me: when Rafa [Leao] runs, you have to try to create space and create chances. And that’s what I did.”
