Carlo Pellegatti has heaped praise upon Massimiliano Allegri for his impact at AC Milan, including with Rafael Leao.
Milan have made a very positive start to the new campaign, having won five of seven league games to seize top spot in the Serie A standings, and having also progressed into the last-16 of the Coppa Italia with two wins.
A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday spoke about how Allegri has taken on the role of psychologist as well as head coach, to try and get the best out of Leao. His match-winning brace on Sunday against Fiorentina is hopefully a sign of things to come.
‘Now, I feel calm’
Pellegatti spoke in a YouTube video about Allegri and Leao, who could be the two symbols of a much more positive season for Milan. His comments were relayed by MilanNews.
“After everything that happened to us last season, I tell you the worst in AC Milan’s history. There were so many things like the cooling-off incident, the coach chasing the captain, we’d never seen them before, it happens at a club once in a hundred years. I was so bitter, depressed about football, that now I feel calm and huge credit to Massimiliano Allegri,” he said.

“Leao’s management, after his outbursts the last two times, said it doesn’t matter if you play as a centre-forward, he gave him confidence, for the penalty [vs. Fiorentina] he told him to take it, even though he had never taken one before. Now Leao would go through fire for Massimiliano Allegri. If Milan wants to try to win the Scudetto, they need the best Leao.
“I said it last December after the Fonseca experience. We need to sign Allegri, and so I’m not surprised. He’s got a good team management style, he’s intelligent and he’s the fourth-best attack.
“To those who talked about Allegri and his short-termism, I say look at the 2010-2011 season with Milan’s 65 goals, with Ibra, Pato, and Robinho all in double figures. Allegri is a thrifty coach, as he’s called, when he doesn’t have great players at his disposal.”
