Arsenal have welcomed back Piero Hincapie from injury ahead of their Premier League match with Fulham
Piero Hincapie has returned to Arsenal training following an injury suffered after his debut for the club. Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli were also spotted having returned from duty with Brazil, according to Sky Sports, who were present at the open training session.
Arsenal’s players have returned from international duty following a successful break from domestic action. Seven players managed to score for their countries, giving Mikel Arteta plenty to be excited about.
This will have come as a boost following the blow that Martin Odegaard is expected to be missing for several weeks with a medial collateral ligament issue in his knee. Therefore, seeing Eberechi Eze score for England will certainly have emboldened hopes that his squad can cope with the captain's third injury this season alone.
With the return of the squad is the potential for some previously missing stars to join their teammates. Several players, such as Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke and Gabriel Jesus, are out with longer-term issues and fighting to be back playing as soon as possible.
Issues have thwarted Hincapie’s start to life at Arsenal. As confirmed by Mikel Arteta, the groin surgery he had in the summer while with Bayer Leverkusen has re-emerged early in the season.
However, the Spaniard further confirmed ahead of the win over West Ham that he would return after the international break and now we know this to have been very much the case.
“He will be available after the international break,” he said. “We've been trying to do everything as fast as possible.
“But this came too fast, and now we have the international break, and hopefully after that, he will have a couple of sessions with the team and [be] ready to go.”
Hincapie has played just a handful of minutes so far in the Champions League. The Ecuador international came on late in the 2-0 win at Athletic Club but suffered the issue soon after.
Riccardo Calafiori is currently on three yellow cards and at risk of suspension. This could open the door for Hincapie, who can play either as a left-back or a left-sided centre-half should Gabriel Magalhaes be given some rest over the increasingly busy winter schedule.
